It’s not what happens, it’s how you react.

November 13th, 2008

In any given day, you’ll have progress and setbacks, triumphs and failures. That you can bet on. But as good a day as some people have, they’ll manage to find something to fret about. (”It’s just luck, it won’t last, I’m destined for misery.”) And as

bad a day as others have, they’ll see the good in it. (”So what? I’m still alive, still kicking and nothing’s going to stop me.”) Which attitude will win over your day? And the next day? And the next? You have control over that: to enjoy your accomplishments without diminishing them; to accept your failures as opportunities to learn. You have the power to make every day a victory. Because it’s not what happens to you, it’s how you react to it. Why make yourself crazy?

Fitness yoga will not only get you strong and toned, the positions will relax you and help you cope with stress. Cardio-based yogas will get the blood flowing to joints and muscles which will also release endorphins, the body’s natural happy drug.

Tough out the stress of big transitions.

November 13th, 2008

Everything is going along at an even keel, sometimes even for years, when suddenly… you’re starting a new job. Moving. Getting married. Having a baby. Going off to school. Making a major life transition. That means a lot of planning, doing and upheaval in a compressed amount of time. The stress can be intense, unrelenting. Endure it with the knowledge that while it may be daunting, it’s only temporary. Use the prospect of new and exciting things to get past the current turmoil. And have faith that the bumps will soon even out and your life will once again assume a level of normalcy. Why make yourself crazy?

There are many different types of yoga, and starting with a beginner class will open up a whole new world of exercise for you. You can go for more meditative classes that focus on breath and connection to the world. Or you can get your heart rate up with some flow yoga which will keep you moving from pose to pose, or really challenge yourself with Bikram Yoga, which is performed in a 105F room and gets you sweating.

Be your own best pal.

November 13th, 2008

Are you comfortable when you’re by yourself? Can you do things solo and enjoy them—like going to the movies, a restaurant, museum, even traveling—without feeling ill at ease or self-conscious? Or do you always feel you have to have someone else in tow, and lacking that are prone to miss out? If so, be assertive, take the initiative, and do more things on your own. You’ll find it liberating, stress-reducing and confidence-building. And the more comfortable you grow with yourself, the less timid you’ll become, and the farther your horizons will span. When a companion isn’t available, be your own best pal. Why make yourself crazy?

As you become stronger and more limber you will find that you can go deeper into poses and hold them for longer, getting more benefits out of the class.

Be a good gear switcher.

November 13th, 2008

You may have the kind of job, or life, where you constantly have to drop something to take care of something else. This can be a never-ending source of stress and frustration. If you let it. Or, as unlikely as it seems now, you can condition yourself to get used to it…even enjoy it! When you prepare yourself for such interruptions, you can make a clean break without anxiety, knowing you’ll return later on to tie up loose ends. Just give whatever you’re doing at the moment your undivided focus…and let it go promptly when necessary. Quick transitioning is a skill, an art, you can learn, master and take satisfaction in. Why make yourself crazy?

Most communities offer some kind of fitness yoga, and may even offer yoga for new moms. Classes even allow you to bring your little one so you don’t have to find a sitter or leave your baby at home. Beginner classes focus on reintroducing the body to exercise through gentle stretching and strengthening positions.

Don’t act out confrontations in your head.

November 13th, 2008

What angry scenes we stage in our minds! Reenactments of arguments recently fought. Vengeful thoughts of what we’ll say next time we see that so-and-so. Seething dialogs and envisioned acts of retribution aimed at whatever current nemesis we’re up against. These inner rants can poison our temperament, and have an all-consuming effect far out of proportion to whatever caused it. Become skilled at sidestepping these ill feelings before they have a chance to devour you. Let things play out in reality, rather than your mind. You’ll find they’ll usually resolve themselves a lot more peacefully than you imagined. Allowing yourself to get worked up only fuels your ire again and again. It isn’t worth it. Why make yourself crazy?

Fitness yoga is a great way to get back into the swing of things, and can adjusted for each individual to be as simple or as difficult as you want it to be. As a bonus, once you get some muscle tone back you can take on more challenging positions that will really get you into shape.

Don’t trust yourself when you’re upset.

November 13th, 2008

You’re furious at someone. Flustered by an embarrassing thing you did. Or upset about a serious blunder you made. In that distressed state, you’re unfocused, distracted, likely to make costly errors and thus compound the misery you’re feeling. In those situations, it’s wise to consciously slow down and proceed with caution, as if navigating a ship through perilous waters. Even better, don’t attempt anything important or complicated until you’ve had a chance to calm and collect yourself. You can’t see clearly when you’re seeing red.

Why make yourself crazy?

When the glow of childbirth wears off, what you will start wondering is just how much damage has been done. Not as much as you think, but getting yourself back to where you were will take some time, and you will have to take it slow and easy.

4.  Test area: Anterior shin.

It is probably no surprise that stress can wreck havoc on your body, hormones and subsequently, your face. The body naturally releases a hormone called cortisol during a stressful situation coined the “fight or flight” response. If the body maintains a constant level of stress without allowing for drops in cortisol levels, a chronic state of stress is maintained. This high-cortisol state can have adverse effects on the body. One such side effect is inflammation and lowered immune response.

5.  For control purposes 50 terminal hairs are to be removed within a very concentrated area, with an electrified needle and in close proximity, 50 terminal hairs are to be removed by the test method.

Adequate hydration plays an important role in vibrant, healthy skin, by acting in digestion and absorption of vitamins and nutrients. It is also responsible for regulating body temperature, eliminating wastes and toxins and even lubricating joints.

6.  The control and test sites are to be carefully examined weekly for 9 weeks. Hairs

appearing within 14 days are to be considered anagen hair, which will be charted and not considered regrowth. Regrowth hair is hair which emanates from treated follicles.

7.  After 9 weeks results will be recorded and efficacy will be determined.

Diet, nutrition and exercise all contribute to the overall vitality, youthfulness and appearance of the skin. Exercise allows toxins to be released from the body through perspiration. It has been shown that a diet high in saturated fats, preservatives and milk products can irritate blemishes. Another source may be iodine, which has been shown to aggravate acne.

Smoking, though more recently becoming less fashionable, is still one of the most skin damaging toxins around. Not only does smoking make skin appear more aged and wrinkled, but the average cigarette releases over 43 carcinogens when burned that enter your lungs and eventually your blood stream. Do yourself a favor and forget the smokes.

Permanent Hair Removal: A Definition

Permanent Hair Removal is defined by the International Guild of Professional Electrologists (IGPE) in their Official Standards dated December 8, 1978 as follows:

DEFINITION:  Hair removal is accomplished by destroying the dermal papilla and the surrounding germinative cells in the lower portion of the hair follicle, without harming the upper layers of the skin. The hair follicle provides access to the dermal papilla. The skin is not punctured.

Don’t just buy and immediately use the product, know first weather the one that you choose can be good enough for your skin.

Hair System: Fact Sheet Continued…

November 12th, 2008

Generally speaking, two types of hair are produced by the follicle:

   vellus

   terminal

Vellus hair  is like “peach fuzz” and it is normally found on a woman’s cheek or a young child. It is soft, downy and colorless. The follicles producing vellus hair are shallow, and the hair shaft produced is relatively short. Vellus hair is normal in women and is not treated with permanent hair removal techniques such as electrolysis.

Beauty products are not essential, but they are a luxury that most of us can afford. If you use beauty products, try to find some that have herbal ingredients, which will cater to your concerns while taking care of your body.

Terminal hair  is deeply rooted, coarse, and colored.

Terminal hair begins as the peach fuzz type but later develops color and some degree of coarseness at which point it becomes the terminal type. Terminal hair grows from the scalp, eyebrows, underarms, pubic area, and other parts of the body.  It is terminal hair which many people regard as unwanted and therefore try to remove from certain body areas.

There are several beauty products that have been introduced in the market. These products were market by some companies through sending their sales representatives to various places to discuss how their products effectively work and how the people will be benefited by it. Above the other beauty products, one of the most popular are the Mary Kay beauty products. Many of the Mary Kay users have attested that these products really work. Mary Kay products are quite expensive compared to other beauty products, but definitely, you will be satisfied with the kind of service provided by it.
